In the area of Ancient American Studies/Cultural and Social Anthropology, numerous doctoral projects and postdoctoral projects are supervised and accompanied. The topics of these projects reflect the diversity of the research focuses of the area and contribute equally to the enhancement and expansion of these focuses.

The area' s professors supervise doctoral theses within the framework of DFG-funded research projects, doctoral theses financed by scholarships or research assistantships, and doctoral theses within the framework of the International Research Training Group "Temporalities of Future".

The doctoral and postdoctoral students regularly participate in the Research Colloquium of Cultural and Social Anthropology.
