Renata Motta and Marco Teixeira present at the IV ISA Forum of Sociology: Challenges of the 21st Century: Democracy, Environment, Inequalities, Intersectionality

During six days, hundreds of panels will explore the world in the pandemic and the world that may come out of it at the IV ISA Forum of Sociology - and Food for Justice is part of it! The pandemic has stressed how deeply interdependent we have become and accentuated the need of a more global sociology. Epistemologies of the South and intersectional perspectives on democracy, ecology and social justice are more than alternative options for sociology in the 21st century. There are at its core and have deeply transformed it. To see the participation and contributions of Food for Justice during the ISA, have a look at the following schedule (Brazilian time):

Tuesday, 23rd of February

  • Renata Motta and Marco Teixeira will present their work "Allowing Rural Difference to Make a Difference: The Brazilian Marcha Das Margaridas", from 3:21 to 3:33 pm. This presentation is part of the session Movements, Intersectionality, and Politics of Liberation in the Global North and South (RC47 Social Classes and Social Movements).

Thursday, 25th of February

  • Renata Motta is co-hosting the session Social Movements As Protagonists of New Agrifood Markets (RC47 Social Classes and Social Movements) together with Paulo Niederle (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul), Camila Penna (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul) and Simin Fadaee (The University of Manchester). There will be two sessions about Social Movements as protagonists of New Agriffod Markets, the first starts at 9:00 am and the second at 10:45 am.
  • Marco Teixeira will present his work “The Role of Women in Agrifood Markets: Contributions from the Marcha Das Margaridas“, in the session Social Movements As Protagonists of New Agrifood Markets (RC47 Social Classes and Social Movements), from 1:15 to 1:30 pm.

Friday, 26th of February

  • Renata Motta will present her work "Feminist Solidarities and Coalitional Identity: The Popular Feminism of Marcha Das Margaridas", from 8:00 to 8:15 pm, at the session Women on the Move: New Activisms in the Contemporary Feminist Wave (RC47 Social Classes and Social Movements).

 Sunday, 28th of February 

  • Renata Monata is chair of the panel "Movements, Intersectionality, and Politics of Liberation in the Global North and South", from 6:15 to 6:45, which is the second part of the RC-47 session.
