The research agenda is put into effect in numerous research projects. The LAI serves as institutional spokesman for the International Research Training Group “Entre Espacios/Between Spaces” funded by the DFG, the Research Network “Interdependent Inequalities in Latin America” ​​ (desiguALdades.net) and the European-Union supported program MISEAL – Measures for Social Inclusion and Equality in Latin American Universities. Furthermore, scholars at the Institute are involved in larger research contexts, such as SFB 700 “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood”, the DFG Research Group “Agents of Cultural Globalization”, the consortium CarBioCial and the BMBF-sponsored SÖF Junior Research Group "Fair Fuels?".
