Recently published the new book of the IRTG with two volumes: Temporalidades del futuro. Lo colonial, lo posible y lo político (2024), edited by Bernd Hausberger, Ricardo Pérez Montfort, Stefan Rinke and Claudia Carolina Zamorano Villarreal, Mexico (El Colegio de México).

This book explores the temporalities of the future that have shaped both past and present Latin American societies. Its chapters address the various demands placed upon us by sociocultural and academic contexts. The initial sections focus on the expectations, hopes, anticipations, and aspirations that history has imposed upon us and made possible. They also examine the diverse ways in which humans and social groups, as creators of time, have developed different understandings of temporality. On the academic front, the work delves into the vast and often unexplored richness of heuristics within the dimension of temporality.

Drawing on multiple disciplines within the social sciences and humanities, the book emphasizes the significance of time dimension and its role in social, cultural, literary, political, and historical processes in the region. It highlights the aspirations and anticipations that shape the multiple temporalities of Latin American societies—both past and present—as they move toward the future. Ultimately, these aspirations and anticipations form the temporalities of the future itself.

The first volume is divided into three sections. The first section reflects on the colonial past and present, exploring their implications for the future. The second section delves into potential futures, not necessarily shaped by specific social or political groups. The third section examines the future as a political arena.

The second volume is also structured into three sections. It begins by analyzing the political, subjective, and cultural dimensions of future temporalities. The second section engages with the topic through the lens of literature. Finally, the third section explores the continuities and ruptures influencing aspirations and anticipations in intergenerational processes and education.
