"Young Latin American indigenous, self-representation and insertion into Europe life and dynamic: identity and organizational processes in borders contexts."
Supervisor:
With this proposal I analyse integration processes into Europe life and dynamic by young Latin American indigenous migrants, from mobilizing their identifications, speeches, practices and ways of life. Identities are not static, I understand it as ways to look and act in the world, and it emanates from the many experiences of life that mark to this young people. I want to analyse what happens with identity processes and self-representations, and how these can lead young people to engage in associational and organizational claims or not in the context of borders. The start point that brings these experiences is provided by the fact of coming from a family or indigenous or native community in Latin America, coupled with the experience of otherness and identification framed by migration. Therefore, these experiences are complemented with the confrontation with other identities involved in many cases in value constructions and therefore struggles and contradictions. It is essential part of this study the sense of life of the community that may or may not exist for these young people, that is, seeking to analyse their sense of belonging and community-based source identification. I am interested in rescuing their gaze community and origin culture, how is thought and imagined, debated and summoned and how is questioned since their representation within the current migration dynamics. These self-representations will be discussed directly with social practices that account their border identities. However, I am particularly interested in rescue practices that bring collective or collectivist outlook, a major axis in the organization and conception of indigenous peoples and communities of Latin America. Some of the initial questions I intend to answer are: How represent their self as Latin American indigenous migrants? , How experiencing their identification with the communities of origin? , Are there explicit identification ways with the origin culture? , What organizational experiences since young indigenous exist in the European Union and what are its prospects? , How they negotiate their identities in migration and multiculturalism context in which are inserted? To do this I will draw on participatory methodologies related to visual anthropology and the use of radio and photography tools.
