The Free University, in cooperation with the DFN and the TU Berlin, provides its own cloud service for every member of Freie Universität. "Box.fu-berlin.de" is based on the Nextcloud service. The service is still in the testing phase but can already be used. The matching tutorials (Tip4Us) will soon be available on the ZEDAT site. The system is already fully functional and can be used without hesitation. Thus, the Free University provides a privacy-compliant Dropbox alternative.
You can access the service with the help of your ZEDAT account.

To install software we always need the inventory number of the corresponding service computer!!!
For license-free software or offers that are available through framework contracts with the FU-Berlin, we only need the inventory number and the user of the corresponding computer, preferably by mail to it-service@lai.fu-berlin.de. Then the software is automatically installed or an appointment for installation will be made.
You can order licensed software from the catalog of the UniKat-Shop.
Please state the following in the internal remark field when ordering:
- Inventory number
- Users of the corresponding computer.
- You no longer need to order a data carrier.
For software that is not available on the UniKat system catalog offer, you will need a scholarly offer and two comparable counter-offers. Then you can, with the justification of the external order, in the UniKat a so-called “Freitextbestellung”. Please also remember the following information:
