ERASMUS+ Europe (for LAI doctoral students)
LAI doctoral students can spend semesters abroad at various partner universities within Europe through the LAI contracts. The universities to which doctoral students can go are as follows:

Participants in the Erasmus+ programme in Europe receive a monthly support allowance of between €330 (Poland) and €390 (France, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain).
The applications should be sent in to an online application platform. The call is normally published annually in mid-November or early December. The application deadline is always 31st January of the following year. Additionally, following forms should be sent in per mail:
- Copy of online application;
- CV in tabular form;
- Motivational letter;
- Performance records of previous studies;
- Enrollment certificate;
- Language certificates.

ERASMUS+ worldwide/Latin America (For LAI und FU doctoral students)
Freie Universität Berlin has received funding from the DAAD for the implementation of Erasmus+ worldwide with partner countries for the exchange of doctoral students.
This year, there are still 9 spots in 5 countries (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru) available within the framework of the Erasmus+ worldwide programme for doctoral students who would like to spend a period abroad at a Latin American partner institution.
The funding is awarded directly through the Latin America Institute. However, the application is explicitly open to doctoral candidates from all departments of the Freie Universität Berlin.

Erasmus + scholarship holders enjoy the following advantages:
• Exemption from tuition fees at the host university;
• Funding of additional costs due to foreign travel through a mobility grant for the duration of the study abroad (700 € / month);
• Travel costs of 1500 €;
• Support in the preparation and implementation of the stay (cultural, linguistic, organizational) from the home university and host university abroad;
• Academic recognition of study achievements abroad through learning agreements and the ECTS point system.
The stay needs to be completed no later than 31st July 2023.
The duration of the Erasmus + study program is 4 months.
For that purpose, please hand in following documents until the date of 29st January 2023 (in digital form):
- Copy of admission to doctorate program
- Filled-out application form
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form; CV should be written in Spanish language (or in Portuguese language for applicants for Brazil) and should also include a passport photo
- Research project/research proposal (approx. two pages, in Spanish or Portuguese)
- Supervision confirmation of a professor at the host university
- Copies of diplomas (BA, MA); including transcripts of records
- Letter of recommendation written by the doctoral advisor (Download: Hints for assessors in English; Hinweise für Gutachter_innen in German)
